RUPIAH - JAKARTA. The Indonesian rupiah in the spot market managed to maintain its strengthening until the end of trading today. On Thursday (2/5), the spot rupiah closed at a level of Rp 16,185 per US dollar.
This resulted in the spot rupiah strengthening by 0.46% compared to the closing on Tuesday (30/4) at Rp 16,259 per US dollar. The movement of the rupiah is in line with the majority of currencies in Asia.
As of 3:00 PM local time, the South Korean won became the currency with the largest strengthening in Asia after closing up 0.83%.
Next, the Philippine peso, which also closed, surged 0.49% and the Malaysian ringgit soared 0.37%. Followed by the Thai baht, which rose 0.32%.

Next, the Taiwan dollar was seen closing up 0.21% and the Singapore dollar lifted 0.14%. Then the Hong Kong dollar was seen strengthening slightly by 0.08%.
Meanwhile, the Japanese yen became the currency with the deepest depreciation in Asia after correcting 0.59% against the greenback.
Followed by the Chinese yuan, which fell 0.17% and the Indian rupee, which weakened slightly by 0.02% this afternoon.
