RUPIAH - JAKARTA. The rupiah's exchange rate in the spot market managed to maintain its strengthening until the end of trading today. On Monday (22/4), the spot rupiah closed at a level of Rp 16,637 per US dollar.
This resulted in the rupiah strengthening by 0.14% compared to the closing on Friday (19/4) at Rp 16,260 per US dollar. The movement of the rupiah was in contrast to the majority of currencies in Asia.
As of 3:00 PM local time, the South Korean won became the currency with the largest strengthening in Asia after closing up 0.2%.
Subsequently, the Indian rupee rose 0.13% and the Philippine peso, which closed up 0.1% today.

Meanwhile, the Thai baht became the currency with the deepest depreciation in Asia after plummeting 0.48%. Followed by the Taiwan dollar, which closed down 0.39%.
Then, the Chinese yuan slipped 0.06% and the Hong Kong dollar was pressured 0.04%. Followed by the Malaysian ringgit and the Singapore dollar, both correcting 0.02%.
Finally, the Japanese yen appeared to weaken slightly by 0.019% against the greenback this afternoon.
