RUPIAH - JAKARTA. The rupiah exchange rate in the spot market managed to maintain its advantage until the end of trading today. On Friday (5/3), the spot rupiah closed at a level of Rp 16,083 per US dollar.
This resulted in the spot rupiah strengthening by 0.63% compared to the previous day's close at Rp 16,185 per US dollar. The movement of the rupiah was in line with the majority of currencies in the region.
As of 3:00 PM local time, the South Korean won became the currency with the largest strengthening in Asia after closing up 0.93%.

Subsequently, the Taiwanese dollar and the Philippine peso, which had already closed, each climbed 0.45% and 0.29% respectively. This was followed by the Malaysian ringgit, which rose 0.24%.
Next, the Japanese yen was lifted by 0.23% and the Singapore dollar appreciated by 0.11%. Then there was the Indian rupee, which rose by 0.07%.
Meanwhile, the Thai baht was seen to strengthen slightly by 0.008% against the greenback in today's trading.
On the other hand, the Hong Kong dollar was the only currency in Asia that weakened after falling slightly by 0.03% this afternoon.
