RUPIAH - JAKARTA. The rupiah's exchange rate in the spot market continues to weaken in today's midday trading. On Monday (April 29), the spot rupiah stood at Rp 16,241 per U.S. dollar.
As a result, the rupiah weakened by 0.19% compared to Friday's (April 26) close at Rp 16,210 per U.S. dollar. This has made the rupiah the most depreciated currency in Asia.
As of 12:00 local time, the Indian rupee was one level better than the rupiah after a correction of 0.08%. This was followed by the Malaysian ringgit, which slipped 0.07%.

Next, the Thai baht was seen to fall 0.02% and the South Korean won appeared to weaken slightly by 0.01%.
Meanwhile, the Japanese yen became the strongest currency in Asia after reversing direction and surging 1.34%.
Following this, the Singapore dollar rose 0.23% and the Philippine peso was lifted 0.09%. Subsequently, the Hong Kong dollar climbed 0.05%.
Then, the Chinese yuan rose 0.03% and the Taiwanese dollar slightly strengthened 0.01% against the greenback.
