RUPIAH - JAKARTA. The spot exchange rate of the Indonesian rupiah weakened in today's trading. On Friday (April 19), the spot rupiah closed at a level of Rp 16,260 per US dollar.
This represents a depreciation of 0.49% compared to the previous day's closing rate of Rp 16,179 per US dollar.
As of 3:00 PM local time, currency movements in Asia varied. Notably, the Philippine peso was the most depreciated currency in Asia, closing down 0.72%.
Following this, the South Korean won closed down 0.63%. The Taiwanese dollar also closed down, correcting by 0.45%.

Meanwhile, the Thai baht was down 0.19% and the Chinese yuan weakened slightly by 0.03% against the greenback.
On the other hand, the Japanese yen was the strongest currency in Asia, surging 0.11%. This was followed by the Malaysian ringgit, which climbed 0.05%.
Furthermore, the Indian rupee was seen to rise by 0.03% and the Singapore dollar increased by 0.02%. Lastly, the Hong Kong dollar strengthened slightly by 0.003%.
