BI Rate Rises, Rupiah Strengthens 0.40% to Rp 16,155 per US Dollar Today (24/4)

RUPIAH - JAKARTA. JAKARTA. The Indonesian rupiah closed at a level of Rp 16,155 per US dollar at the end of trading on Wednesday (24/4), strengthening by 0.40% from the previous day's level of Rp 16,220 per US dollar.

In Asia, the majority of currencies strengthened against the US dollar. The South Korean won recorded the largest increase of 0.64%, followed by the rupiah in second place with an increase of 0.40%. The Taiwanese dollar strengthened by 0.16%, the Singapore dollar by 0.05%.

Then, the Indian rupee by 0.05%, the Malaysian ringgit by 0.04%, and the Hong Kong dollar by 0.01% against the US dollar.

Meanwhile, other Asian currencies weakened against the US dollar. The Thai baht weakened by 0.16%, the Philippine peso by 0.08%, the Japanese yen by 0.03%, and the Chinese yuan by 0.008% against the US dollar.

In the meantime, the dollar index, which reflects the exchange rate of the US dollar against the world's major currencies, stood at 105.83, up from the previous day's level of 105.67.
