JAKARTA - PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) is preparing a network capacity of up to 51.8 terabytes (TB) to anticipate a surge in traffic during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) holidays in 2024.

Andri Herawan Sasako, VP of Corporate Communication at Telkom, stated that they project a traffic surge for mobile and fixed broadband of 6%–10% during RAFI 2024.

This surge in traffic is in connection with the long holiday set by the government, which is the Eid al-Fitr leave from April 8–15, 2024. This aligns with the increase in the number of homecoming travelers.

"We have increased network capacity to 51.8 terabytes and added infrastructure capacity up to 1.7 terabytes to anticipate traffic during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming," said Andri in a recent interview.

Telkom, through its subsidiary, PT Telekomunikasi Selular or Telkomsel, has optimized quality, capacity, and updated network technology focused on 444 crowded points.

These crowded points include 288 special areas, 57 transportation transit areas, 42 residential areas, 38 homecoming routes (including Rest Areas and gas stations), and 19 worship areas (mosques and other places of worship).

Overall, this network capability enhancement complements the presence of more than 247 thousand Telkomsel BTS with the latest 4G/LTE and 5G technology covering up to 97% of the population in Indonesia.
