Cinema XXI (CNMA) Achieves Revenue of Up to IDR 5.2 Trillion Throughout 2023

CORPORATE STRATEGIC - JAKARTA. Throughout 2023, PT Nusantara Sejahtera Raya Tbk (CNMA), or Cinema XXI managed to record revenues up to IDR 5.2 trillion. Compared to the revenue in 2022 which was IDR 4.4 trillion, Cinema XXI's revenue in 2023 increased by 18.9%.

Not only an increase in revenue, Cinema XXI also achieved a net profit after tax of IDR 742.3 billion. This profit jumped 47.1% compared to 2022. Meanwhile, Cinema XXI's EBITDA was IDR 1.7 trillion last year.

Cinema XXI's President Director Hans Gunadi said, that as the largest cinema network in Indonesia with more than 35 years of experience in the film industry, Cinema XXI is always committed and consistent in maintaining performance growth through strengthening business fundamentals.

This performance improvement was achieved by focusing on cinema ticket sales, the development of food and beverage products, digital platforms, and advertising.

"The total revenue of Cinema XXI throughout 2023 came from the contribution of cinema ticket sales by 60%, food and beverage products by 35.4%, digital platforms by 2%, and advertising by 1.9%," said Hans in a written statement, Saturday (9/3).

To further improve service to all movie lovers in Indonesia, Cinema XXI consistently expands its two main business lines, namely cinemas and food and beverage products. Cinema XXI opens new cinema locations to provide the widest possible access for the public to watch their favorite movies.

Throughout 2023, Cinema XXI has opened 18 new locations with an additional 75 screens. Thus, as of December 31, 2023, Cinema XXI has 240 cinemas with a total of 1,280 screens in 60 cities/regencies throughout Indonesia.

This also drove an increase in cinema ticket sales by 25.7% from 67.1 million viewers in 2022 to 84.3 million viewers in 2023. This figure generated a Gross Box Office (GBO) worth IDR 3.5 trillion.

Cinema XXI Director Arif Suherman added the increase in the number of viewers is also reflected in the revenue of the food and beverage product business line which grew 29.3% in 2023 to IDR 2.0 trillion from IDR 1.6 trillion in the same period last year. This increase is also reflected in the revenue of the food and beverage product business line compared to the GBO revenue of 58.3%.

“We are committed to continuously presenting quality food and beverage innovations to further enhance the comfort of watching movies at Cinema XXI,” said Arif.

The new record for the achievement of national films in the last 11 years (2013-2023), 2023 recorded an important history, namely the number of national films watched by more than 1 million people reached 20 films.

This position is much better compared to before the Covid-19 pandemic which reached 15 national films as the highest number. In 2022, there was a recovery of the cinema and domestic film industry. In 2022, the number of national films watched by more than one million people reached 14 films.

Filmindonesia.or.id recorded 20 national films watched by more than 1 million viewers throughout 2023 in all cinema networks in Indonesia, namely:

Hans continued, that the increase in the number of domestic film viewers has a large contribution in increasing Cinema XXI's revenue while showing the enthusiasm and support of the Indonesian people for the national film industry.

“This commitment will be realized through plans to add about 100 new screens throughout 2024 spread across various cities/regencies throughout Indonesia,” he concluded.
