Head of Brand Marketing MG Motor Indonesia Roy Andre Monoarfa said, MG's aggressiveness in the electric car segment is in line with the company's efforts to change people's perceptions of electrification in a vehicle.

South Korean manufacturer, Hyundai, will release two new models during IIMS 2024. However, there is no information whether these models include electric cars or just conventional cars.

Clearly, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia Franciscus Soerjopranoto said, in general, they will launch 6 new models throughout this year, including models in the electric vehicle segment.

Hyundai is sure to continue to enliven the national electric car market. So far, they have marketed the mass-produced Ioniq 5 in Indonesia and the completely built up (CBU) Ioniq 6 imported from South Korea.

"This year Hyundai also completed the battery cell factory project in Karawang, making it easier for us to produce our electric cars," he added in a separate media gathering, Tuesday (6/2).

Unlike other manufacturers, PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) chose to launch a new hybrid car model at IIMS 2024, although there is no further information. At the same event, Toyota also plans to release a new model from the Gazoo Racing line.

Just so you know, in 2023 Toyota recorded wholesales of electrification vehicles as many as 37,736 units or an increase of 8 times compared to the previous year.

The Kijang Innova Zenix HEV was Toyota's best-selling electrification model in 2023 with sales of 27,705 units. It was followed by the Yaris Cross HEV (5,476 units) and the Corolla Cross HEV (1,217 units).
