ISSUER NEWS - JAKARTA. PT RMK Energy Tbk (RMKE) reported successfully loading 110 barges with a total volume of 880,900 metric tons (MT) of coal in December 2023. This volume was achieved after RMKE resumed normal operations in mid-November 2023.
For comparison, this volume increased by 119% every month or month-on-month (MoM) and is the highest barge load volume in December for the last 5 years.
If compared to the same period last year or year-on-year (YoY), the volume of barge loads increased by 16.8% YoY.
Until the period of December 2023, RMKE has loaded 962 barges with a total volume of 7.6 million MT of coal, or tends to be stable compared to the same period last year, amid operations that had stopped since early September 2023.
From the coal sales segment, in December 2023, RMKE sold 340,600 MT of coal which increased by 182.6% MoM. Until the period of December 2023, RMKE sold 2.4 million MT of coal, tending to be stable compared to the same period last year.

RMKE's CEO, Vincent Saputra, said that this condition is supported by the demand for coal which tends to increase until the end of 2023 both nationally and globally.
According to Vincent, the operational performance of barge loads and coal sales volume reached the 2023 target of 70% and 84.5% respectively. This achievement is still not optimal due to several operational obstacles faced by RMKE since September 2023.
“However, we are grateful to be able to maintain the operational performance of RMKE stable compared to last year's performance,” said Vincent, Monday (29/1).
RMKE also maintains on-time performance (OTP) of train unloading in 2023 which is 45 minutes faster to 3.24 hours per train compared to the train unloading time in 2022 which is 4:09 hours.
In addition to more efficient and effective unloading time, fuel usage decreased by 5.0% YoY.
On average, the ratio of fuel usage per metric ton of coal until December is still more efficient, which is 0.88 liters per MT in 2023. This figure is 1.9% more efficient YoY on a year-to-date (YTD) 2023 basis.
Management is optimistic that RMKE can improve its performance in 2024. In addition to pursuing operational and financial targets, RMKE will focus on improving corporate governance.
