Marzuki Alie hospitalized after ulcer flare-up

JAKARTA. House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie is recovering from a stomach problem after being treated at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital in Central Jakarta.

Marzuki was rushed to the hospital on Friday after collapsing during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s state address.

Prior to being taken to the Army hospital, Marzuki was initially treated at the Harapan Kita hospital, which specializes in treating cardiovascular disease.

Marzuki’s wife, Asmawati, said that her husband would be released from hospital within the next three days. “He is recovering,” Asmawati said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Sunday.

She said Marzuki was suffering from fatigue, which had exacerbated his stomach ulcer.
