STOCK MARKET - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has confirmed that the structural removal of its long-standing Rp50 minimum share price floor to a new baseline of Rp1 is on track for full commercial roll-out on September 28, 2026, marking a significant market microstructure overhaul.
Speaking at the exchange headquarters on Wednesday (16/9/2026), IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik disclosed that 92 out of 93 brokerage members (Anggota Bursa) have achieved absolute technical readiness to support the transition.
"Previously, five brokerages were lagging behind. However, as of today, only one member remains in the final infrastructure testing phase," Hendrik clarified. The final broker is scheduled to enter mock trading simulations on September 19, 2026, to clear the backlog.

System Traffic Pressures Take Priority Over Volatility
The implementation was originally slated for September 7, 2026, but faced strategic delays to prevent localized execution failures among brokerages lagging in hardware adaptation. Exchange authorities emphasized that their primary operational concern ahead of the launch is not underlying price volatility, but rather a massive surge in data traffic hitting the core trading engine.
The pricing drop to Rp1 will automatically trigger key adjustments to the exchange’s automated circuit breakers:
- The New Floor: Distressed equities previously frozen at the Rp50 "gocap" graveyard can now trade down to Rp1.
- Auto Rejection Limits (ARA/ARB): For the micro-cap bracket spanning Rp1 to Rp10, price limits will shift to a flat Rp1 nominal value movement per day, completely replacing the previous 10% percentage cap framework.

Implications for Emerging Market Speculative Capital
For international quantitative funds, algorithmic market makers, and retail momentum desks tracking Southeast Asian equities, this microstructure shift unlocks an entirely new trading ecosystem.
The liberation of hundreds of previously illiquid, bottom-tier stocks allows for institutional price discovery, enabling portfolios to legally value and liquidate severely distressed equity tranches.
However, macro analysts warn that the influx of high-frequency micro-orders could introduce short-term settlement friction, making strict compliance with internal system capacity and broker risk mitigation frameworks mandatory as the IDX aligns its retail ecosystem closer to global penny-stock trading standards over the multi-year holding horizon.
