Indonesian Wholesale Car Sales Down 23.9% YoY in Q1 2024

AUTOMOTIVE - JAKARTA. The national car market in Indonesia appears to be continuing a downward trend in the first quarter of 2024.

According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), national car wholesale sales (from factories to dealers) from January to March 2024 were recorded at 215,069 units. This figure represents a 23.9% year-on-year (YoY) decrease compared to the same period in the previous year, which saw 282,601 units sold.

National car retail sales (from dealers to consumers) also fell 15% YoY to 230,776 units in January-March 2024, down from 271,423 units previously.

Monthly, national car wholesale sales rose 5.7% month-to-month (MtM) from 70,698 units in February 2024 to 74,724 units in March 2024. Similarly, national car retail sales also grew 16.7% MtM from 70,316 units in February 2024 to 82,092 units in March 2024.

2. Daihatsu: 49,147 units
3. Honda: 29,744 units
4. Mitsubishi Motors: 19,792 units
