ISSUER NEWS - JAKARTA. PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) recorded a decrease in car sales by 37,984 in January 2024 or down 25.16% Year on Year (YoY)
Head of Corporate Communications Astra Boy Kelana Soebroto said, national car sales in wholesale in January 2024 reached 69,619 units. Meanwhile, Astra Group's car sales in January 2024 were 37,984 units, meaning ASII still leads the market share by 55%
Although still leading the national car market share, ASII's sales recorded a decrease in sales by 25.16% YoY. In January 2023, ASII's sales were recorded as 50,755 units.
Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), ASII's car sales also fell 20.30% monthly or month on month (mom) compared to sales in December 2023 which were 47,659 units.
"We hope the automotive industry throughout this year will continue to grow, in line with the prediction of the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) which estimates car sales in Indonesia will reach 1 million to 1.1 million units this year," said Boy, in his official statement, Thursday (22/2).

The sales figures were obtained from the sales of Toyota, Lexus, Daihatsu, Isuzu, UD trucks, and Peugeot brands. In detail, in January 2024 sales of Toyota and Lexus brands led the contribution with 21,111 units.
Then, the Daihatsu brand contributed 14,363 units, followed by the Isuzu brand which contributed 2,350 units, the UD trucks brand 148 units, and the Peugeot brand 12 units.
In addition, non-Astra car sales also experienced a decrease in annual sales. Non-Astra car sales became 31,635 units, in January 2024 compared to non-Astra car sales in January 2023 which were 43,515 units.
