JAKARTA. State Logistics Agency (Bulog) says that it is currently selling sugar stock imported from India at a discounted price.

Bulog president director Sutarto Alimoeso said that earlier this year, the agency imported around 20,000 tons of sugar.

“Earlier this year, the sugar price was relatively high but now the price has gone down,” he said.

Sutarto said that due to the sugar price decline, the agency had decided to stock it.

“But we cannot stock it for too long,” he said.

“Therefore, we will sell sugar imported from India at a discounted price. We have 4,300 tons of it. The price level is at Rp 9,000 per kilogram for 50 kilograms of purchase.”

The current market price for sugar is between Rp 10,000 and Rp 11,000 per kilogram. (Hans David Tampubolon/The Jakarta Post)
