AUTOMOTIVE - JAKARTA. The Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024 is set to be a stage for several automotive brand holders (APM) to launch new car products, especially in the electrification segment.

As known, the organizer of IIMS, Dyandra Promosindo, targets a total transaction of IIMS 2024 above IDR 5.3 trillion. This target is considered quite realistic considering the many automotive brands that enliven this exhibition, including electric and hybrid cars.

Build Your Dreams (BYD) is a new participant in IIMS, where in this year's edition they will showcase three electric car models, namely BYD Atto 3, Dolphin, and Seal.

These three models have actually entered Indonesia since January 18. Until now, BYD has not announced the official price of electric cars sold in Indonesia.

"IIMS is our first exhibition in Indonesia. We try to introduce BYD's main technology," said Head of Marketing BYD Indonesia Luther T. Panjaitan in a press conference ahead of IIMS 2024, Tuesday (6/2).

Another Chinese automotive manufacturer, Chery Sales Indonesia, will introduce the latest electric car Chery Omoda E5. This time, the car already has an official price of IDR 498 million.

This price already includes a 10% Value Added Tax (VAT) subsidy from the government. Although not detailed, Chery will offer discounts on the purchase of Omoda E5 during IIMS 2024, so the price of this model will be cheaper.

"We hope the launch of this new model will boost Chery's overall sales," said Head of Brand Chery Sales Indonesia Rifki Setiawan at the same event.

According to KONTAN's records, by the end of 2023 there were already 400 vehicle order letters (SPK) for Omoda E5.

Meanwhile, Morris Garage (MG) Motor Indonesia plans to launch two new electric cars at IIMS 2024. However, there is no further explanation regarding the name, specifications, and price of these two models.

MG is quite aggressive in entering the electric car market in Indonesia. Recently, they have marketed two electric car models, namely MG 4EV and MG ZS EV. Both models are now produced locally as MG already has an electric vehicle factory in Indonesia.
