Waxwork museum opens in Ancol

JAKARTA. A museum of life-size wax statues officially opened in the Ancol Beach Mall in North Jakarta on Wednesday, offering visitors the opportunity to marvel at and take selfies with world-famous celebrities.

"You no longer need to travel abroad to visit a wax statue [museum]; you can simply visit the one in Jakarta," said Alive Museum Ancol operational manager Putri Palupi on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.

More than 50 wax statues can be found at the Alive Star Ancol, including statues of animation characters and Western superheroes like Spider-Man, Batman, Baymax and One Piece, and world-famous public figures such as Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and Mahatma Gandhi. The place also displays original movie posters adorned with signatures of their actors and actresses, like from Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings.

Open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., the entrance fee to the Alive Star Ancol starts at Rp 100,000 (US$7).

Previously, in late October, the mall opened the Alive Museum Ancol, which features trick-art artworks with 3D effects and serves as a branch of the Alive Museum Korea. (kes)
