BP TAPERA - JAKARTA. The Indonesian government's policy of the Public Housing Savings (Tapera) mandates workers to save 3% of their income, with 2.5% contributed by the worker and 0.5% by the employer, which could potentially burden the industrial sector.
Riza Annisa Pujarama, a Macro and Financial Economics Researcher at the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef), stated that while Tapera could provide workers with access to more decent housing, it could also increase the burden on the industrial sector, particularly the manufacturing sector, which is currently experiencing a slowdown.
