(BSI) laid the first stone (groundbreaking) for the construction of a new office building called BSI Tower which was built with a green building concept. The construction and development of the BSI Tower Building is targeted to take 18 months and use the Build Operate Transfer (B.O.T) scheme with a concession period of 30 years. The building will stand on an area of approximately 5,736 m2./pho KONTAN/Carolus Agus Waluyo/09/11/2023.

CORPORATE ACTION - JAKARTA. PT PP has temporarily halted the construction work of BSI Tower. This was done after reviewing the impact of the project's construction on the damage to the Heritage Building of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

According to observations by Kontan.co.id, the ESDM Ministry's Heritage Building has suffered severe cracks both outside and inside the building.

PTPP Corporate Secretary Bakhtiyar Efendi stated, that due to this land subsidence event, they have temporarily halted work, conducted evaluations, accompanied by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), and prepared follow-up mitigation planning for reinforcement.

“We are currently evaluating with Geotechnical Experts and accompanied by PUPR in anticipating this settlement so that it can be controlled in the future. Of course, we will also coordinate intensively with the Ministry of ESDM to minimize the impact and restore the condition of the Heritage Building,” he said in an official statement, on Wednesday (31/1).

Furthermore, Bakhtiyar explained, that the construction of the BSI Office Building began in November with the groundbreaking on November 9, 2023. PT PP  has been appointed as the winning contractor of the BSI Building with a BOT (Build, Operate & Transfer) scheme for 30 years.

It was previously reported that the ESDM ministry building experienced cracks and subsidence caused by the initial stage of construction, namely the foundation and basement of the building.

PTPP emphasized that, before implementation, they had conducted socialization to the surrounding environment including the Ministry of ESDM.

In addition, as an anticipatory step and mitigation of the risk of land movement, the placement of inclinometers, regular settlement monitoring, using a secant pile retaining wall system under the soil characteristics at the location, and maintaining the existing retaining wall have also been carried out.

From the existing monitoring data, it shows that there is a decrease over time that causes cracks in the dilation part and this has been coordinated with the Ministry of ESDM previously so it recommends temporarily vacating the Heritage Building for evaluation and restoration.

The Head of the Communication and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of ESDM, Agus Cahyono Adi, stated that up to now PTPP has been quite cooperative in coordinating with the ESDM ministry.

“We have agreed to temporarily vacate the heritage building to facilitate the restoration process. PTPP is committed to evaluating, planning to avoid future settlements, and repairing the heritage building,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of PUPR stated that it will accompany the process of repairing the Heritage Building.
