KUPANG. The government has set aside Rp 75 billion in budget to finance power generating facilities in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in 2015.
The regional administration will use the fund to build solar power plants and micro hydroelectric plants in 17 regencies under rural electrification program.
The government wants to increase the electrification ratio, which is still very low in the island province, head of the provincial energy and mining office Dany Suhadi said here on Tuesday (20/1).
Dany said around 460 of 1,100 households in NTT have not been covered by electrification programs of the state power utility (PLN) or non PLN.
In addition, there will be fund from the regional budget to be used to build solar power plants in a number of regencies with low electrification ratio such as the regencies of Sumba Tengah, Sumba Barat and Sumba Barat Daya, and Sabu Raijua, he said.
