Indonesia Signals Extension of Freeport's Special Mining Business License

FREEPORT, JAKARTA - The Indonesian government has signaled a potential extension of the Special Mining Business Permit (IUPK) for PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) following the inauguration of the Copper Smelter in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) JIIPE, Manyar District, Gresik Regency on Thursday (27/6).

The Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that the project, with an input capacity of 1.7 million tons of copper concentrate, has attracted an investment of up to IDR 57 trillion and has boosted job creation.
