Indonesia Agrees to PT Freeport's 2024-2026 Production Plan and Budget

FREEPORT-JAKARTA. PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) has obtained approval for the Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) 2024-2026 from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

EVP External Affairs PT Freeport Indonesia Agung Laksamana revealed, the approval of the RKAB 2024-2026 was obtained on January 9, 2024.

"The newly approved RKAB by the Government is the RKAB for the next 3 years which is part of the planning for operation and future mine investment development by considering the existing reserves and resources," Agung told Kontan, Thursday (11/1).

Agung explained, PTFI's production target for payable metals this year consists of 643 thousand tons of copper per year or about 1.4 million Mlbs, gold production of 51 thousand kg per year or 1.6 million Koz and silver of 157 thousand kg per year or 5 million Koz.

Kontan noted, in the third quarter of 2023, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) recorded copper production of 1.17 billion pounds or increased from the same period the previous year which was 1.16 billion pounds. Meanwhile, its sales reached 1.01 billion pounds or decreased compared to the achievement in the same period the previous year of 1.19 billion pounds.

During the first nine months of 2023, there was also an increase in the average selling price which was previously US$ 3.81 per pound to US$ 3.71 per pound.

Meanwhile, gold production in the third quarter of 2023 reached 1.40 million ounces or increased from the third quarter of 2022 which was 1.33 million ounces. Meanwhile, its sales reached 1.15 million ounces or decreased from the same period in the previous year which was 1.35 million ounces.

Until the third quarter of 2023, the average selling price of gold increased from previously US$ 1,786 per ounce to US$ 1,932 per ounce.
