KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that from the beginning of 2023 until August 2023, Indonesia has imported 1.59 million tons of rice.
The Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar, revealed that during this period, Indonesia imported the most rice from Thailand.
"Most of Indonesia's rice imports come from Thailand, with a volume of 802,000 tons or covering 50.36% of total rice imports," explained Amalia, on Friday (15/9).
The second largest source of rice imports is from Vietnam, with an import volume of 674,000 tons, or equivalent to 42.33% of total rice imports.
The third largest source of imports is India, which is 66,000 tons or equivalent to 4.16% of total rice imports, followed by Pakistan with a total of 45,000 tons or equivalent to 2.85% of total rice imports.
Amalia added rice imports are dominated by the semi-milled or wholly milled rice category.
