Fuel supplies in Jabodetabek threatened


JAKARTA. About 1,000 oil tank drivers of Plumpang (Nortn Jakarta) fuel terminal plan to strike on 1 November 2016 up to seven days ahead.

The strike may suspend the delivery of fuel to 800 fuel stations in Jabodetabek, as well as Sukabumi and Puncak area (West Java). Every day, Plumpang fuel terminal supplies 15,500 kiloliter of fuels.

General Chairman of Federation of Indonesia’s Ports Transportation Labors Ilhamsyah said that the plan for strike relates to the employment status of the drivers. In this case, PT Pertamina Niaga did not appoint the 1,000 drivers as permanent employees, whereas some of them already have a dozen years of service. “They work for more than 12 hours every day without overtime compensation”, he said on Tuesday (25/10).

Ilhamsyah apologized to Jabodetabek, Puncak, and Sukabumi residents fot the suspension of fuel supplies for State Owned Oil and Gas Company or Pertamina’s fuel stations. “Pertamina Patra Niaga has never listened to our aspirations, whereas we are the spareheads of the distribution”, he said.

Let alone, the Manpower and Transmigration Unit of North Jakarta on Memorandum of Examination No 4750/-1.838 to PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Depo Plumpang on 26 September 2016 mentioned that Patra Niaga has never paid over time compensation to the labors.

Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Niaga Arsono Kuswardhanu said that the examination was supposed to be directed to PT Sapta Sarana Sejahtera, which provides the drivers. “We do not have legal relation with the drivers”, he said. Until the news was revealed, KONTAN has not yet received confirmation from PT Sapta Sarana Sejahtera in regarding in this matter.

Pertamina Patra Niaga itself claimed to have anticipated the fuel supplies. “If they strike for seven days, we also prepare fuel supplies for seven days”, Arsono told KONTAN on Tuesday (25/10).

VP Corporate Communicaton of Pertamina Wianda Pusponegoro added, Pertamina has prepared tank crews from other fuel terminals, such as Cikampek, Ujung Berung, dan Tanjung Gerem to anticipate the strike. "This always happens every time the signing a new contract with manpower vendor”, said Wianda.

General Chairman of Association of National Oil and Gas Entrepreneurs (Hiswana Migas) Eri Purnomohadi said that the fuel stations of private oil and gas companies are ready to anticipate the strike. “We have sufficient supplies. So don’t be worry”, he said.
