Bank Commonwealth Indonesia Losses Increase to Rp 788.68 Billion in 2023

BANK-JAKARTA. Bank Commonwealth Indonesia still suffered losses in the fiscal year 2023, even the net loss of this bank increased by 124.84% annually (YoY) to IDR 788.68 billion from previously IDR 350.77 billion in 2022.

Based on the financial report of Commonwealth Indonesia, the increase in this loss was due to a decrease in net interest income and an increase in the bank's operational expenses in 2023. The net interest income (NII) decreased by 17.69% YoY to IDR 565.15 billion from previously IDR 686.64 billion in 2022.

Meanwhile, operational expenses increased by 24.74% to IDR 1.3 trillion in 2023, from previously IDR 1.04 trillion in 2022

Throughout 2023, Commonwealth Indonesia has disbursed loans amounting to IDR 8.03 trillion, down 10.9% YoY from IDR 9.02 trillion in 2022.

The gross and net non-performing loan (NPL) ratios are each at the level to level 2.11% and 1.23% as of December 2023.

The net interest margin (NIM) ratio also decreased to 3.84% as of December 2023, from previously at the level of 4.09% as of December 2022.

From the funding side, Commonwealth Indonesia managed to raise third-party funds (DPK) amounting to IDR 10.69 trillion in 2023, down 9.2% YoY from IDR 11.77 trillion in the previous year.

From the efficiency side, Commonwealth Indonesia recorded the ratio of Operational Costs to Operational Income (BOPO) increased to the level of 154.17% as of December 2023, from the previous year which was at the level of 122.93% as of December 2022. This number is already in the inefficient category, considering Bank Indonesia sets the maximum limit of the BOPO ratio of banking at 85%.

The total assets of Commonwealth Indonesia decreased by 12.86% YoY from IDR 18.39 trillion to IDR 16.03 trillion in 2023.
