Bakrie set to meet Thai PM

BANGKOK. Golkar Party chairman Aburizal Bakrie is set to have a meeting with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in Bangkok on Wednesday.

"The meeting will be useful in term of building partnership and developing understanding," Aburizal told members of the Indonesian media at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok on Tuesday.

Later on Tueasday, Ical met leaders of Yingluck's Pheu Thai Party.

Known for his sprawling business empire and several controversial issues including the Sidoarjo mud flow disaster, Bakrie is now working to improve his public standing, particularly since he has confirmed plans to run for president in the 2014 elections.

He has also begun developing international cooperation, and has met political leaders in various countries including China, Timor Leste and Singapore. (Bagus BT Saragih, The Jakarta Post)
