JAKARTA. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) selection committee announced on Wednesday that it had short listed 38 candidates from 87 for the institution’s seven commissioner posts.
In a press release, the committee said that it had screened candidates based on profile assessment conducted by an independent consultant to elaborate on their competencies and personality.
Among the eligible candidates announced were University of Gadjah Mada economist and former Finance Ministry director-general Anggito Abimanyu, former Corruption Eradication Commission member Chandra M. Hamzah, lawmaker Kemal Azis Stamboel, Capital Market and Financial Institutions Supervisory Agency (Bapepam-LK) head Nurhaida and central bank deputy governor Muliaman Hadad.
The 38 candidates are required to undergo medical tests on March 9 and 10 and submit a paper to the committee before March 12.
The OJK will become a financial monitoring super-body that will take over the supervisory functions of banks from Bank Indonesia, and insurers and stock markets from the Bapepam-LK.
Under legislation, OJK will be led by nine commissioners, two of whom will be representatives of the central bank and the Finance Ministry.
There were 290 applicants who submitted applications for the positions, but just 87 met the initial administrative requirements. (Hasyim Widhiarto/ The Jakarta Post)
