JAKARTA. Chinese cellphone maker ZTE Corporation launched three Blade series smartphones simultaneously in Jakarta on Wednesday in a bid to strengthen its foothold in the country’s telecommunication industry.

ZTE launched Blade G, Blade G Lux and Blade Vec Pro, which target different market groups in Indonesia.

“Indonesia is the largest market among ASEAN countries and we are confident that the market will love our products. We don’t have a strong hold on Indonesia’s market at the moment, but with this Blade series and more new products next year, we will bolster our presence in the market,” ZTE sales director Luo Mingbo said on Wednesday at the launch.

The three models are expected to be on sale next week, including on online shop lazada.co.id.

Luo said that the company had teamed up with PT Surya Citra Multimedia (SCM) to distribute the ZTE Blade series across the archipelago.

SCM director Darma Soendaya said that 50,000 units of the Blade series would be shipped to Indonesia by the end of the year.

“We’re aiming to sell 100,000 units of each Blade model by the end of the first quarter of 2015. We’re optimistic we’ll be able to achieve the target because the ZTE brand is pretty strong in Indonesia,” Darma said.
