RUPIAH - JAKARTA. The rupiah's exchange rate in the spot market continued to plummet until the end of trading at the start of this week. On Monday (27/5), the spot rupiah closed at a level of Rp 16.076 per US dollar.
This resulted in the rupiah weakening by 0.36% compared to the closing on Wednesday (22/5) at Rp 15.995 per US dollar. This made the rupiah the most depreciated currency in Asia.
As of 3:00 PM local time, the majority of currencies in the region strengthened. In which, the South Korean won became the currency with the largest appreciation after closing up 0.41%.
Next, the Thai baht, which rose 0.31%, and the Taiwan dollar, which had closed up 0.28%. Followed by the Malaysian ringgit, which jumped 0.21%.

Then there was the Philippine peso, which closed up 0.12%. Then there were the Hong Kong dollar and the Japanese yen, which each rose 0.08% and 0.05%, respectively.
Next, the Indian rupee rose 0.008% and the Singapore dollar, which appeared to weaken slightly by 0.007% this afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Chinese yuan was one level better than the rupiah after slightly weakening 0.01% against the greenback.
