Two Pertamina’s top leaders dimissed

JAKARTA. As the conflict in Pertamina (State Owned Oil and Gas Company) raged, two top leaders of the oil company were sacked.

Minister of State Owned Enterprise (SOE) Rini Mariani Soemarno, Friday (3/1) dismissed Dwi Soetjipto from the position of President Director of Pertamina, and Vice President Director of Pertamina Ahmad Bambang.

This decision is in line with the recommendation of Pertamina’s Board of Commissioners. “We took the decision based on that recommendation,” said Rini after reported to President Joko Widodo, Friday (3/2).

The President Commissioner of Pertamina Tanri Abeng said, the Board of Commissioners of Pertamina will search for new talents to fill the position of president director. The candidates may come from either internal or external of Pertamina. “Hopefully, there will be the new president director in the next 30 days,” Tanri said.

Tanri added, the dismissal was caused by the conflict between Dwi and Bambang that has been interrupting Pertamina’s operations. Even, the position of Vice President Director had interrupted the team work in Jakarta. Therefore, the Board of Commissioners recommended removing the position. The conflict appeared since the appointment of Bambang to the second in command position in Pertamina.

Evidently, this conflict was detrimental not only to Pertamina, but also to the state, while this oil and gas company is carrying out state infrastructure projects in the fields of oil and gas worth Rp 700 trillion. (Muhammad Farid/Translator)
