CORPORATE STRATEGIC - JAKARTA. The dividend distribution season is coming soon. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI) also plans to distribute cash dividends from the 2023 fiscal year profit.

Sunarso, the President Director of Bank Rakyat Indonesia, stated that BRI has more than enough capital, so it is not a problem if BBRI's profit is distributed as dividends.

"I want at least 70% to 80% of the net profit to be distributed as dividends," he said when met at the Jakarta International Velodrome, Monday (12/2).

Citing the 2023 financial report, BBRI recorded a consolidated net profit of IDR 60.4 trillion. This is higher than the previous year's IDR 51.4 trillion.

"The money flows to the shareholders, the majority of which are held by the government. So the money will return to the country," said Sunarso.

If BBRI sets a dividend payout ratio (DPR) of 80%, then the total dividends to be paid to shareholders will be around IDR 48 trillion.

In December 2023, BBRI had paid interim dividends from the 2023 fiscal year amounting to IDR 12.65 trillion. Each shareholder received a dividend of IDR 84 per share.

If drawn from the 2021 to 2022 fiscal year, BBRI consistently set a DPR of 85%. With a total budget of IDR 43.49 trillion in 2022 and IDR 26.41 trillion in 2021.

Meanwhile, in 2020, BBRI only set aside 60% of net profit for dividends. At that time, this red-plate issuer distributed dividends worth IDR 12.13 trillion.
