JAKARTA. The realization of tax revenues as of November 2016 just reached Rp 965 trillion or 71% of Rp 1,355 trillion targeted under 2016 State Budget.
The number consists of Rp 934 trillion of income tax revenues of non-oil and gas sector, while others were collected from income tax revenues of oil and gas sector. The government estimates that the tax revenues will be lower than the target of Rp 215 trillion by the end of 2016.
Director of Tax Potential, Compliance, and Revenues at the Directorate General of Taxation Yon Arsal said that the realization of tax revenues has increased by Rp 93.8 trillion from October 2016 to November 2016.
According to Yon, last year the government obtained Rp 11 trillion of revenues from Land and Building Tax (PBB) from oil and gas sector. However, this year the government is no longer obtaining this tax revenue. Therefore, Yon claimed that the realization of tax revenues is still as expected.
Relies on tax amnesty
The government is still expecting that the tax amnesty can boost the government income in December 2016. “We will be more massive in tax amnesty,” Yon said, Wednesday (7/12).
Therefore, the tax authority will rely on the data to conduct socialization for tax amnesty program.
The data derive from some sources, including from government and non-government institutions. Tax authority expects that the data can reflect the number of potential assets to be involved in the tax amnesty. Previously, Directorate General of Taxation mentioned that as much as Rp 593 trillion assets have not yet been reported in 2015 annual notification letter (SPT) and declared to join the tax amnesty program.
Executive Director of Center for Indonesian Taxation Analysis (CITA) Yustinus Prastowo said, in referring to the government outlook, the government is likely to struggle to meet the target of tax revenues at Rp 390 trillion and Rp 175 trillion. Let alone, as of November 2016 the redemption fees of tax amnesty were only Rp 1 trillion of the total of redemption fees, which amounted to Rp 95.4 trillion. (Muhammad Farid/Translator)
