BANDARA SOEKARNO-HATTA - JAKARTA. Starting on Monday, state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) has allowed online ride-hailing services to pick up passengers from all terminals of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten.
Only vehicles that have been registered with the Police Cooperative (Inkoppol) will be allowed to operate. So far, only drivers from online ride-hailing service Grab, had confirmed they were cooperating with Inkoppol.
"For Terminal 3, users can visit booths available at both international and domestic gates. The service starts on Monday," said AP II Branch Communication Manager for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Prasetyo Nugroho in a statement received by The Jakarta Post over the weekend.
At Terminal 1, users could go to the booths at Gates A, B and C, while at Terminal 2, booths were available at Gates D and F. At each booth, there would be an officer to help passengers to order both GrabCar and GrabNow, Prasetyo added.
Inkoppol reportedly holds a permit from the Greater Jakarta Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) to cooperate with online ride-hailing services.
Online ride-hailing drivers, who were registered with Inkoppol were required to have public transport drivers’ licenses (SIM A Umum) and wear a special uniform, while vehicles had to pass roadworthy tests, Prasetyo added.
"So, the Inkoppol coordinates online ride-hailing drivers. 500 drivers will be allowed to operate at Soekarno-Hatta Airport," he added.
