SBY to inaugurate new BKPM chief, deputy minister

JAKARTA. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is set to swear in new Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) chief Mahendra Siregar and new deputy finance minister Bambang Brodjonegoro later on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning that President SBY, who will be accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, would inaugurate the two new officials at the Presidential Palace after commemorating Pancasila Sanctity Day, which falls on Oct. 1.

The Pancasila Day ceremony will be conducted at the Pancasila Sakti Monument in Lubang Buaya, Cipayung district in East Jakarta.

Mahendra will replace Chatib Basri, who is now the finance minister. Bambang previously served as the Finance Ministry’s fiscal agency head.

In a text-message sent to The Jakarta Post, Bambang confirmed his appointment but refused to go into detail.

“God willing [I will be sworn in today],” he said.

Bambang once served as the dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Indonesia and was a commissioner for publicly listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang.
