RIAU. The Home Ministry has appointed Riau Islands city secretary Suhajar Diantoro as the new rector of the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN). As an alumnus of the IPDN himself, he is expected to be able to resolve various problems within the institution.
“I have yet to disclose my programs to fix the IPDN. I will talk about it after the inauguration,” Suhajar said, adding that the inauguration would be held next week.
He will fill the vacancy left by I Nyoman Sumaryadi who resigned from his post on June 20 due to allegations of an extramarital affair. Suhajar started his career as a civil servant in Riau Islands and he is also the chairman of Riau Islands Civil Service Alumni Association (IKAPTK).
The IPDN is notorious for a series of fatal incidents involving a number of its students being tortured to death by senior students in the institute. (hrl/dic The Jakarta Post)
