Riau hot spots still fluctuating

PEKANBARU. The number hot spots in Riau is still fluctuating while the emergency response period will end on Friday, Riau Haze Task Force chief, Brig. Gen. Teguh Rahadjo said on Thursday.

He said it was not clear whether the response period would end or be extended. "Perhaps the governor is still waiting for clues from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency [BNPB] chief," Teguh told The Jakarta Post.

He added that surveillance using an NOAA satellite revealed that there were still 25 hot spots in the province. The number dropped to only one on Saturday and Sunday but then increased again. (The Jakarta Post)
