JAKARTA. Jakarta Police Chief Insp. Gen. Dwi Priyatno said on Monday that the police would not hesitate to take firm action against security threats as the Constitutional Court (MK) began proceedings in the lawsuit filed by the losing presidential pair Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa on Wednesday.
He said 800 anti-riot police personnel armed with rubber bullets would be stationed at the MK compound until Aug. 21, when the court was expected to issue its final verdict in the case.
The defeated presidential pair has filed a lawsuit against the General Elections Commission (KPU) and the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) over alleged vote riggings which they hold responsible for their loss in the July 9 presidential election.
“We will take decisive action against anyone trying to disturb the democratic process at the MK,” Dwi told reporters at Police headquarters.
