JAKARTA. The South and West Sulawesi Police are slated to grill inactive chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Abraham Samad in Makassar on Friday for his alleged involvement in document forgery in 2007.

“If Abraham does not show up and does not give an acceptable reason for not meeting the summons, we will deliver a second summons letter,” police spokesman Sr. Comr.Endi Sutendi said in Makassar on Thursday.

He added that both Abraham and his lawyers had yet to confirm whether he would go to the provincial police headquarters to undergo his first round of questioning.

Abraham was named a suspect because according to a police investigation, he was allegedly involved in helping Pontianak resident Ferriyani Lim obtain a fake ID and family cards to apply for a passport at an immigration office.

When asked whether the police would comply with Samad’s request to be questioned in Jakarta, Endi said the police had yet to decide. “That is up to the police investigators. Let the investigators decide where the suspect will be interrogated,” he said as quoted by tempo.co.

The coordinator of Abraham’s team of lawyers said her side had yet to be informed of a request for Abraham to undergo questioning in Makassar on Friday.

Abraham has hired 75 lawyers to provide legal aid for him in the case.

Abraham has repeatedly slammed the police for using his case to criminalize the KPK. He claimed to be clean and said the case had nothing to do with his job at the commission.
