PHILIPPINES - MANILA. The Philippines, on Saturday, successfully completed a resupply mission to its troops stationed at a contested shoal in the South China Sea. This marks the first such operation under a recent provisional agreement with China, designed to deescalate ongoing tensions in the region.

Last week, the Philippines and China disclosed the establishment of a "provisional agreement" concerning Manila's resupply operations to its forces on a naval vessel stationed at the Second Thomas Shoal. This arrangement follows a series of confrontations between vessels from both nations, which have raised significant concerns about potential escalations in the area.
