JAKARTA. State owned oil and gas firm Pertamina president director Karen Agustiawan says her company will supply up to 4 million metric standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas to Transjakarta bus in 2012.

Karen said as quoted by tribunnews.com that the gas supply would support Jakarta’s plans to add 202 more Transjakarta buses, giving the city a total of 674 buses in operation. “All the buses will require a total 6.4 mmscfd of gas,” she said.

To meet the demand, Pertamina would more gas stations in Jakarta, she added. However, Karen said Pertamina needed the Jakarta administration’s commitment to provide land for the construction of the new gas stations.

“Without the support and involvement of the local administration, it would be very difficult for us to support the conversion of fossil fuel to gas,” she said. (The Jakarta Post)
