Pertamina to import 201 million barrels of fuel

JAKARTA. The state oil and gas company, Pertamina, plans to import 201 million barrels of fuel in 2015, according to the company’s budget and work plan (RKAP).

Documents provided by Pertamina to the House of Representatives’ Commission VII, which oversees energy, reveal that the volume of fuel imports in 2015 will increase by 23.4 percent from realized fuel imports in 2014, which reached 153.7 million barrels.

According to the 2015 RKAP, the volume of crude oil imports planned for will reach 306,460 barrels per day, or decline by 8 percent from last year’s realized imports, which reached 333,540 barrels per day.

“The 2015 RKAP shows that the volume of fuel imports will reach 201 million barrels, comprising 128 million barrels of RON 88 or Premium gasoline, 63.1 million barrels of diesel and 9.8 million barrels of avtur,” said Pertamina as quoted by Antara news agency in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In 2014, the realized Premium imports reached 115.4 million barrels, followed by diesel (32.1 million barrels) and avtur (6.1 million barrels).

“The volume of imported diesel in 2015 is planned to increase by 96 percent, which is quite significant,” said Pertamina.

Based on the 2015 RKAP, Pertamina plans for the amount of Premium production from refineries to reach 74.9 million barrels, or 36.9 percent of total need, while imported Premium will reach 128 million barrels, or 63.1 percent.

The amount of diesel produced by refineries in 2015 is planned to reach 126.8 million barrels, or 66.8 percent of total need, while imported diesel is expected to reach 63.1 million barrels (33.2 percent).

Meanwhile, the amount of avtur produced in refineries is expected to reach 18.8 million barrels (65.6 percent), while imported avtur 9.8 million barrels (34.4 percent).

“According to the 2015 RKAP, the amount of crude oil needed is expected to reach 862,070 barrels per day. Of the total need, 36 percent, or 306,460 barrels per day, will be covered by importation, while 555,430 barrels per day, or 64 percent, will come from domestic production,” said Pertamina.
