JAKARTA. National Education and Culture Minister Muhammad Nuh says the ministry has not yet received any report of leaked exam papers as millions of junior high-level students across Indonesia are sitting national examinations (UN) on Monday
“At this point, we haven’t yet received any such reports,” Nuh said on Monday as quoted by Antara.
He was speaking on the sidelines of an impromptu inspection in several junior high schools in the Thousand Islands regency, Jakarta.
There have been widespread rumors of leaked exam papers during the led-up to the start of the exams on Monday.
The minister’s first impromptu inspection was at state junior high school SMPN 241 Jakarta in Tidung Island, where hundreds of students are sitting the first of four-day-national exams, which is the Indonesian language exam.
Nuh monitored the classrooms during the exams and talked with several test supervisors. He later observed school facilities such as libraries and educational materials in the classrooms.
More than 3.9 million junior-high level students across Indonesia are sitting the national exams while 227,743 others are taking the B-Package exam.
The national examinations for junior high-level students are scheduled to take place from May 5 to 8, meanwhile, supplementary exams for students who are unable to attend the scheduled exam period will be held on May 12 to 16. (ebf)
