JAKARTA. Bank Internasional Indonesia’s (BII) extraordinary general meeting of shareholders (EGMS) has approved the appointment of the bank’s new president director and a change to the composition of its Board of Commissioners (BOC).

The EGMS approved the appointments of Taswin Zakaria as the new president director and Datuk Abdul Farid Alias as a commissioner. Their appointments will be effective after obtaining approval from the relevant regulatory authorities.

The EGMS also accepted the resignations of Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid Omar as a commissioner, Dato’ Khairussaleh Ramli as president director, and Rita Mirasari as director of compliance and corporate secretary. The appointment of Ani Pangestu, currently BII Human Capital director, as the interim director of compliance and corporate secretary, was also approved by the EGMS.

“We welcome Taswin Zakaria and Datuk Abdul Farid Alias as the new president director and commissioner, respectively. Both Taswin and Datuk Farid are no strangers to BII," BII president commissioner Tan Sri Megat Zaharuddin Megat Mohd Nor said in an official release.

He said that as a member of BII's BOC for nine years, Taswin had intimate knowledge of BII operations.

"His deep knowledge of the Indonesian business environment and experience in the financial services sector provide him with the required knowledge and skills to lead BII’s transformation journey,” Tan Sri said.

"Similarly, as the president and CEO of the Maybank Group, Datuk Farid, has worked closely with BII management. The appointment of Datuk Farid as a commissioner reflects Maybank’s strong commitment to supporting the bank’s business growth and the development of the Indonesian economy,” he went on.

Taswin Zakaria, an Indonesian, has served as an independent member of BII’s BOC since 2003. He is also an independent member of the BOC of PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta Tbk - a subsidiary of SATS Singapore, a post he has held since 2005.

Prior to this appointment, Taswin was the president director of PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance between 2010 and 2011. (The Jakarta Post)
