JAKARTA. The National Police say they are in the process of putting the wife of graft suspect Muhammad Nazaruddin, Neneng Sri Wahyuni, on their list of wanted persons.
"Nazaruddin's wife’s whereabouts are our concern. We will follow up on the Corruption Eradication Commission's request to put her on the wanted list," National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam said on Friday.
He said that the police would also request international police cooperation to issue an urgent notice for Neneng.
Neneng allegedly accompanied and aided her husband in his flight to avoid investigation of his alleged role in the graft scandal linked to the construction of an athletes' village for 2011 SEA Games in Palembang, South Sumatra.
Colombian Police captured Nazaruddin in Cartagena on July 6. A team assigned to retrieve Nazaruddin successfully escorted the graft fugitive back to Indonesia on a chartered plane on July 13.
The police said Neneng was also onboard the plane, but she was not seen disembarking.
Anton said the police were misinformed. "At that time, we could not reach anyone onboard the plane because their mobile phones were off. Therefore, we have no clear information," Anton said. (The Jakarta Post)
