GENERAL ELECTION - JAKARTA. Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was the first head of state to congratulate the elected president Prabowo Subianto.

Anwar conveyed this through a tweet on his Twitter account on Thursday (21/3) early morning.

"I have contacted the Elected President of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Mr. Prabowo Subianto, to convey congratulations on his success in the recent Indonesian Presidential Election. I was informed that I was the first leader to congratulate him after the official election results were announced." revealed Anwar Ibrahim.

For Malaysia, this is quite meaningful, as it symbolizes the special friendship values of Malaysia and Indonesia as close and important neighboring countries.

Anwar conveyed his congratulations and expressed confidence that Prabowo Subianto will certainly be able to carry out the mandate given by the Indonesian people as best as possible for the progress and prosperity of the Indonesian nation.

"We are both determined to strengthen bilateral relations that cover various aspects as neighboring countries and promise to work closely together in various multilateral forums, especially within the scope of ASEAN.," he said.
