BANTEN. Major floods inundated parts of Lebak regency, Banten, following incessant rains, an official said Monday.
"All flood victims have evacuated to safer places," Cimarga district head Ade Sutiana said.
The floodwaters, reaching a height of up to 1.5 meters, submerged 72 houses inhabited by 386 people, according to Antara news agency.
Regency authorities have declared that the region was in a state of alert following the overflowing of several rivers, including Cimarga and Ciberang-Ciujung.
Cimarga is one of the 15 districts in Lebak that is prone to floods and landslides. (hhr)
