Mahendra Siregar's replacement

JAKARTA. Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa has said that Deputy Finance Minister Mahendra Siregar will likely be replaced with an official from within the finance ministry.

"The information I could obtain said that his replacement will be someone from inside the ministry,” said Hatta. He refused to elaborate further on Mahendra’s potential replacement.

Mahendra is set to become the new head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

Separately, Finance Ministry secretary general Kiagus Badaruddin said that there had been no information on Mahendra’s replacement because the authority to appoint a deputy finance minister rested solely in President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s hands.
