HIGH-SPEED TRAIN - JAKARTA. The government of Indonesia will continue the high-speed train project to Surabaya.
The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, revealed that the plan is under the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“Earlier regarding the high-speed train, the prospect of a high-speed train to Surabaya is by the president's direction,” said Luhut to the media crew, on Wednesday (6/9).
Luhut also conveyed that the trial of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train that he conducted on Wednesday (6/9), together with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang went smoothly.
He revealed, after the trial, that China acknowledged that the quality of high-speed trains in Indonesia is similar to that in their country.
“Earlier he (the Chinese prime minister) was very satisfied. He said the quality is the same as in China. We are also satisfied,” he explained.
Furthermore, President Jokowi also planned to try the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train after attending the G20 Summit in India.
Next, the public is allowed to use this transportation, or it will start operating on October 1, 2023.
