Lion Air to open new service to Chennai

JAKARTA. The Lion Air Group is set to offer a new service between Jakarta and Chennai, India, on July 10 to attract more Indian tourists to the archipelago.

The upcoming flights will operate once a day and transit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

During a recent event in Paris, France, Lion Air president director Edward Sirait told Antara news agency that, “The number of Indian tourists who travel to Indonesia has grown rapidly and this is what we want to focus on using our airlines.”

He added that many Indian tourists like to spend their vacations in Bali to enjoy its nature and religious tourism. Aside from Bali, they also visit other provinces in Indonesia that are served by the airlines.

“Hopefully this new service will allow Indian tourists to enjoy easier access to explore Indonesia and at the same time also support the government’s program of attracting as many foreign tourists as possible,” said Edward.
