JAKARTA. The General Elections Commission (KPU) said on Monday that it had wrapped up registering more than 177 million voters for the 2014 general election.

The latest data from the commission said the number of voters eligible to cast their ballots in 31 of the country's 34 provinces was 177,257,048.

"We haven't completed our work in South Sumatra, North Sumatra and Papua," KPU chairman Husni Kamil Malik said.

Husni said that the KPU expected the tallying of data on voters would be completed later this week. The KPU expected the total number of voters to be in excess of 190 million.

The commission also expected data from more than 2 million Indonesian voters overseas would also come in later this week. (The Jakarta Post)
